Abstract
The study presents a evaluation of the research in the northeast of Brazil produced for researchers of the states of Alagoas, Bahia, Pernambuco and Sergipe. 145 research had been located, 122 defended. Of this total, 70 (58 dissertations, 12 theses), produced between 1982 and 2004 (50% in the last four years) were analyzed. The subjects on memory, culture and body (21%), school (20%), professional formation/field of work (19%) are the most studied. Like other regions, the critical-dialectics (46%) and hermeneutic models (34%) tend to increase while analytical and positivists models (16%) tend to be reduced. The results allow to locate the critical mass and the human potential for the creation of graduate programs in physical education in the region
