Abstract
The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effects of learning to swim on the bodily coordination of a visually deficient child. An AB-type intra-subject experiment was
carried out with a congenitally blind 10-years-old girl. For data collection, the KTK test of bodily coordination (KIPHARD; SCHILLING, 1976) was used. A log was kept with entries on
the child’s motor behaviour in the water. During the study, teaching-learning strategies for the crawl stroke were implemented, totalising 24 lessons in three weekly sessions of fifty minutes each. The results show progress in motor behaviour, dynamic balance and diving speed.
