Abstract

This article focuses the manifestations of youth condition in the context of initial training in Physical Education, noting how “being youngster” interferes with the construction of the academic itineraries of individuals in this course, and (re)configure their understandings about being teacher. Through questionnaires and interviews, it was found that this element supports different forms of (dis)engagement, linked to issues such as: meanings of Physical Education in the schooling; consumption; self-sufficiency; recognition; family.

Licenciado em Educação Física pela Universidade Federal do Espírito Santo (2009), atualmente é tutor do curso de formação de professores de Educação Física, modalidade a distância, na mesma instituição, e mestrando do programa de pós-graduação em Educação da Universidade Federal de Santa Catarina (PPGE-UFSC).
