The male obsession for the body: body bilders, supermuscular and strong

Abstract

The present study aims to analyze the discourse about representation of male bodies, frequenting gyms. More than ever, men are dealing with the same and intense pressure that women deal for centuries to obtain the physical shape considered “perfect”. From the compulsive weightlifting to the steroids use, an increasing number of men are trying to satisfy the required patterns for the muscles, skin, and hair. What transcend the normal interest line to the pathologic obsession, and what inflict a health risk so dangerous and mortal than the ones represented by the eating disorder? This scene influence trongly and decisively the supermuscular tendencies and on the body disphormic disorder.
