Said and not said: analysis of the journalistic speech in printed media concerning the role of dance in social projects in Rio de Janeiro

Abstract

The aim of the present study is to investigate what is expressed and what is not in the journalistic speech concerning social projects that teach dance for people that live in the slums of Rio de Janeiro. The conceptions of speech analysis developed by Orlandi (1988, 1993, 1996) were used as methodological references. The journalistic articles give clues on the role of dance in these projects. The practice of dance is strategically used as a tool for moral and social adjustments. Whereas, roles such as amusement, gratuity, art and esthetics are not present in the journalistic speech
