Abstract

Systematization of Brazilian scientific production in biomechanics began in the 1990s with the foundation of the Brazilian Biomechanics Society and was intensified in the year 2000 with the launching of the Brazilian Journal of Biomechanics (BJB). The purpose of this study is to analyze Brazilian scientific production in the field of biomechanics from a national and international perspective. A survey of the all authors published in the BJB was carried out in which the most regularly published authors were identified. The number of papers published by each of these authors was also counted by consulting the Lattes database on the internet. The main findings show that the number of such papers published in Brazil is far greater than those published abroad. Although biomechanics is a recent research area in Brazil, the number of papers published internationally meets the minimum required by CAPES and an increase in academic output can be expected in the near future.
