Abstract
This paper looks at the discursive production of intellectuals from different educational backgrounds, such as Medicine, Law, Education and Physical Education. It is aimed at capturing the changes in forms of representation of the overlapping themes of Education, Physical Education, Schooling and Health as they are linked to the development and modernization discourse of the last two decades of the nineteenth century and the first four decades of the twentieth century in Brazil.
