Abstract

In the academic search for explanations and solutions for the ongoing degradation of our life conditions, physical education, the neurosciences and cognitivism are increasingly present. This is because they encourage the belief that harmony and equilibrium are still possible, while scientific reason and above all, the bio-sciences continue to respond to “the discontents of civilization” on the basis of a hegemonic conception of health and life linked to the search for beauty, youth and longevity through the use of bio-technologies. However, if on one hand, science asserts its power as generator and keeper of health, on the other hand, proposals for humanization and health promotion on the basis of an ethical, political and technical reconstruction of life have also emerged.
