The being and the time of sociocultural research in Physical Education

Abstract
This essay discusses the specificity of the scientific production on the social and cultural subarea of physical education, as well as some of its consequences regarding evaluation. Beginning with considerations on the tradition of the area, the text maintains that the production of scientific knowledge in physical education, when using references of humanities, presents characteristics that differ from the typical production of the subarea that considers the natural and exact sciences, and this should, therefore, be considered when they are evaluated.
